The Ottawa police have asked for the public’s help after opening a homicide investigation into the death of 55-year-old Gaetan Jolin.Jolin was discovered “badly injured” at a Joliette Avenue address in Vanier on Wednesday, police tweeted Friday evening. He died about 14 hours later in hospital, Staff Sgt. Bruce Pirt said Friday night.Police had responded to the address after receiving a 911 call at about 2 p.m., Pirt said, but he declined to discuss the nature of the injuries.“We’re not going to talk about the cause of death at this time,” Pirt said. “We have to talk to some more witnesses.”He did say it was the post-mortem that confirmed it was a homicide. People found Jolin in “medical distress” and called 911, Pirt said.The major crime unit is investigating. Anyone with information about Jolin’s whereabouts on Tuesday and Wednesday — specifically Wednesday morning — was asked to contact the major crime unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5493.“We need to determine what he was up to,” Pirt said.
