It was safety first and maybe a little bit of pressure and hopefully some fun Saturday as the Montreal Alouettes held a tryout for the 2019 season cheerleading squad.
In addition to the usual women, men also came out, first-timers and veterans, to Collège St-Jean-Vianney in the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles area of Montreal, vying for the roles of stunters and dancers.
For couple Marion Boulanger and Justin Trevail, it’s something they both love that they can do together: “I really like stunting with him because I have confiance in him. I know he’s going to catch me and he’s really good so I always feel safe stunting with him,” Boulanger told John Kenney, who checked out the tryout for the Montreal Gazette.
Haley Martin was hoping to continue on the cheerleading corps. “I love meeting the fans, cheering on the guys on the sidelines. It’s really become a huge passion of mine. I hope I make it for a fifth year.”
