A housing needs survey is being conducted by the City of Grande Prairie to understand the housing-related supports in Grande Prairie further. The online assessment asks residents about their current housing situation, how housing costs impact them, their preferences and some demographic information. City administration stated that it will be using the information to determine which parts of the population are in the greatest need of housing supports and what types of supports are needed in Grande Prairie. The survey is a part of the Affordable Housing Strategy’s first phase of development.“The new plan will be similar to the Affordable Housing Master Plan 2011 – 2021, but will be an updated vision for affordable housing in the community based on more current information. It will outline what role the City will play in providing housing supports and what initiatives it will take on. The target completion date for the strategy is fall 2019,” the City said in a press release. The survey includes 24 questions and is estimated to take 5-10 minutes to finish. It opened Feb. 19 and will run until March 8.To learn more about affordable housing in Grande Prairie, visit cityofgp.com/affordablehousing.The survey can be found at engage.cityofgp.com/affordable-housing.
