The Village of Rycroft was placed under a do not consume water advisory due to a water break on Wednesday evening.According to the village, the water distribution system in Rycroft was shut down “due to a major loss of water that could not be isolated.”“Repairs are being arranged and we hope to have all services restored as soon as possible,” said Peter Thomas, chief administrative officer, in a statement. “Since we were unable to maintain positive pressure to the distribution system, additional sampling will need to be conducted in order to verify that the water is safe to drink.”Residents are advised not to drink the water until further notice.Rycroft School has cancelled classes due to this advisory. The Peace Wapiti Public School Division stated that buses will continue to run for high school students in Rycroft who attend Spirit River Regional Academy.
