For the second year in a row, the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation is taking to the airwaves for the Connect to Care Radiothon Saturday, March 2.The radiothon takes place at the Pembroke Mall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be broadcast live on myFM radio.There were be lots of activities on the go so people are encouraged to visit the mall to take in some of the action. Well-known local personality Art Jamieson will serve as host along with Kyle Robinson from myFM.The PRH will have information booths on Diabetes Education, Stroke Prevention, Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN), Kids Health Alliance (KHA), Mental Health Services of Renfrew CountyThe will be a Teddy Bear Clinic for the kids from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with five stations staffed with 10 volunteers. The stations are registration, emergency, diagnostic imaging, surgical and rehabilitation.Throughout the day the phones will be answered by a number of groups including PRH Foundation board members, Scotiabank staff, area municipal leaders, emergency services personnel, real estate representatives, community physicians and other community representatives.There will be live music throughout the day and a dance performance at 4 p.m.For those who cannot make it to the mall but want to make a contribution to the fundraiser, the number to call is 613-629-EDGE (3343).All proceeds from the radiothon will support the Cutting Edge Campaign, raising funds for orthopaedic equipment and renovations to the circa 1950s surgical in-patient floor. The campaign has raised $1.68 million dollars to date, with $820,000 remaining. When residents from across Renfrew County call into Connect to Care on March 2, the foundation will be one step closer to reaching its community goal of $2.5M. Together we can do this!
