The RCMP say a sleeping driver led to a drug bust in Chilliwack.

Drugs believed to be heroin and paraphernalia associated to drug trafficking were seized by police during the arrestA dozy driver and his two passengers are facing drug charges following a traffic stop in ChilliwackThe incident happened in the early afternoon on April 17.The Chilliwack RCMP say a general duty officer noticed that a driver had “nodded off” in his vehicle while stopped in the 45000-block of Hocking Avenue.The 29-year-old man from Vancouver behind the wheel and two passengers were taken into custody.The RCMP said drugs believed to be heroin and paraphernalia associated to drug trafficking were seized by police during the arrest.“An alert officer was responsible for the removal of drugs and potentially an impaired driver from the street,” said RCMP Cpl. Mike Rail. “Police will be submitting all circumstances of the investigation in a report to the B.C. Prosecution Service for their assessment of Control Drug and Substance Act charges against the alleged driver.”The three individuals were later released from custody by police pending charges.Their names were not released.
