A 34-year-old Escondido motorcyclist was fatally struck by a car on the 215 Freeway in Murrieta moments after he lost control and was thrown from the bike, the California Highway Patrol said.
The early Saturday morning accident took place during light-fog conditions.
The motorcyclist, wearing a helmet and on a 2001 Honda CBR, was on the northbound 215 just south of Scott Road at 4:27 a.m. Saturday when he lost control. His speed and reason for losing control were under investigation.
The 2012 Volkswagen Passat was going 65 mph and the driver was unable to see the motorcyclist, a CHP report says.
