Although the water of the Ottawa River has receded some, the Pembroke Marina remains closed. The parking area off of Albert Street is now opened though. Riverside Park also remains closed, including the sports fields.
The City of Pembroke’s Emergency Control Group would like to advise that the city remains under a state of emergency as it actively works on co-ordinating recovery plans.Area residents and visitors are reminded that the marina, Waterfront Park and Riverside Park are closed and will remain as such until further notice. Launching of boats at the Pembroke Marina is currently prohibited and the Ottawa River is closed to boating traffic as a result of an order by Transport Canada.Until recovery plans are finalized, residents are urged to stay away from the waterfront and marina for safety reasons and asked not to start any debris pickup adjacent to public lands. Community cleanup opportunities will be upcoming and the public will be notified of dates and times when this will be occurring and help is required. Anyone interested in volunteering and who would like to be on the call list, is asked to contact the city at 613-735-6821 ext. 1409.
