Vocal ensemble Cantus will celebrate its 25th anniversary season with a reunion of past and current singers and favorites including “Christmas With Cantus” and the summer covers concert.
The 2019-20 season was announced Friday.
The season opens Oct. 10 with “One Giant Leap,” which “celebrates the allure of upward exploration,” including the first steps on the moon, according to a news release. It will be the ensemble’s primary touring show next season, including a performance at Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
“Christmas with Cantus” expands to nine concerts, Dec. 12-22.
The spring concert, “There Lies the Home,” “honors the courage and fortitude of early explorers who risked their lives on the high seas in order to make the world a little more connected.”
The 25th anniversary concert and gala will be May 3 at Ordway Concert Hall and feature Cantus alums.
Audience favorites from past years will return for “Covers: Greatest Hits” June 5-14, 2020, at the Cowles Center.
Cantus will continue its intimate chamber experience at four Twin Cities venues next summer (Museum of Russian Art, St. Paul’s Landmark Center, American Swedish Institute and Westminster Hall).
Season packages are available at 612-435-0055 or cantussings.org. Season package pricing ranges from $29 to $31 per performance. Single tickets to Cantus concerts go on sale Sept. 3.
