In this May 15, 2019 file photo, Oprah Winfrey speaks at the Statue of Liberty Museum opening celebration at Battery Park in New York.
Oprah is here tonight! Oprah is here tonight! If the entertainment executive, author and philanthropist is correct, she says that if you say something twice, it tends to resonate longer and louder. The most famous woman in the world is wrapping a cross Canada tour tonight in Vancouver at Rogers Arena. The billionaire will hit the stage just after 8 p.m., joined at some point by special guest spiritual teacher, best-selling author and part time Vancouverite Eckhart Tolle. The tour is in support of her latest New York Times bestselling book Your Path Made Clear and I’m guessing in support of those of us in the crowd’s basic emotional health. This is going to be inspiring. This is going to be inspiring. After all, if the video that opened the show in Edmonton four days ago — and one assumes will open tonight’s event — is any indication Oprah really wants us to feel better about ourselves.“I was put here on earth to use the power of television to transcend our better angels. I chose to use the platform to drop little pieces of light into people’s lives,” says video screen Oprah. Then apparently real life Oprah explained she wasn’t going to be breaking new radical ground and cracking open everyone’s psyche. Nope, according to an Edmonton Journal review of the show she said: “I’m here to share some of the light that fills my life with you.”Well, I’m down with that. Go on Oprah, bring on some of your super-powered, live your best life ever light. But while you are doing that could those of us in the audience get a confirmed bone to take home?Oprah, I’m begging you, and I just had CNN on in the background so I am really serious about that begging part, please take advantage of this last stop on safe neutral Canadian ground and announce your run for the presidency of the United States.Seriously, though, I am a realist and I know that kind of news making, hail Mary for America move is about as likely as Joe Biden knowing the words to Old Town Road, but hey, a girl can dream can’t she?Heck, after all ,that’s what Oprah has been telling us to do for all these years.Reporter’s note: a full story on tonight’s show will be posted here soon after Lady O has left the firstname.lastname@example.org/dana_gee
