The massive fire that collapsed the roof at Serbu Tire in Windsor on Sunday morning was suspicious in nature, say Windsor police.Arson investigators are continuing to examine the incident that happened on the commercial property at 1597 Howard Ave. around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.No one was hurt, but there was extensive damage to the business.Windsor Fire and Rescue Services have estimated the cost of the incident at more than $500,000 — an estimated $400,000 in damage to the building, and an additional $100,000 loss in contents.It took emergency responders hours to bring the situation under control.According to fire investigators, the flames were contained to the tire shop area of the business, despite the roof and a front wall collapsingNo one was on the property at the time of the incident, and no one was injured.Anyone was in the area at the time of the fire and saw anything suspicious is encouraged to call arson investigators at 519-255-6700 ext. 4330.Anonymous tips can be made via Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 or www.catchcrooks.com.Windsor police remind the public that even “a small detail you may not think is relevant” could be a key piece of evidence.Howard Ave fire under control, hitting hit spots, roof and front wall have collapsed, building was not occupied at the time of the fire, fire has been contained to the tire shop, no extension to adjacent structures. *JL pic.twitter.com/SpiwWFWeBu— Windsor Fire (@WindsorFire1) June 23, 2019Related
