SHOOTING MESSENGERI am disgusted with the media making the two young (alleged) murderers famous as they constantly splash their pictures and names all over the news. I doubt that most people can even remember the names of the ones they murdered. It seems that the media only excludes the names and pictures if they are a foreign terrorist. Wonder why that is?D. KEELE(Getting their names and faces out there to warn people and help police catch them is a sacred community service. You are welcome.)JUST AMAZEDAfter reading the article about the popsicles buried deep in your paper yesterday, I had to look at the calendar and make sure it wasn’t April 1. I never thought I would see the day in my 67 years that popsicles would come with a warning label for adults.LARRY WILSON(What a world we live in.)BUILD CITY UPUrban sprawl results in ever growing city infrastructure and longer response times for police and firefighters. Maybe it’s time for a little more vertical growth and a little less single-family growth until this tax till you bleed and spending is brought under control.RUSS LINDENBACH(We’d hope all options are being explored but others would disagree with blocking growth.)OLD PALSNow that Gerald Butts is back with Trudeau and the Liberals, a lot of people are saying that the band is back together again. To me it sounds more like the “Band on the Run!”TERRY TOLL(Not even Paul McCartney could help these guys.)OIL TOGETHER NOWCanada must be the only country in the world that does everything it can to stop the development of it’s own oil resources. Eastern Canada, it seems, would rather buy their oil from Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries whose human rights policies are atrocious. Guess they don’t mind women being stoned to death or lashed. Our American neighbours understand and have been building their own pipelines and are now almost self sufficient. We never heard of the environmental groups protesting them. With the unrest in the Middle East what would happen if the oil supply should be disrupted? Would the people in Ontario and Quebec be happy paying $3- $4 a litre for gas? I think not and as long as a Trudeau is in power another National Energy Program would take effect and Western Canada (Alberta) would pay the price!Stan W Currie(Let’s hope Trudeau isn’t given the chance to revise the National Energy Program.)AL HAS BEEFThe recent growth of “Beyond Meat” has been explosive. As a plant-based protein product that mimics meat it sounds like a healthy alternative. However with almost 20 ingredients that health experts say makes it a highly processed food and the fact it is very high in sodium, there is no legitimate claim or data that shows it is healthier. As such, I’m sticking with the ultimate plant based protein: beef.AL WILLEY(Nothing beats the taste of Alberta beef.)Have something you want to say? Send a letter to the editor.
