Surveillance footage of a woman who reportedly stole a dying man’s dog on July 30, 2019.
Longmont police are searching for a woman who allegedly stole a dog from a man as he was dying in a convenience store Tuesday night.
Police are searching for this dog, which was reportedly stolen from a 7-Eleven on July 30, 2019.
According to a release, a 59-year-old man who had been feeling ill all day walked with his dog to a 7-Eleven in the 1600 block of North Main Street on Tuesday night. While in the store, the man suffered a seizure and fell. He was transported to the hospital, but died there.
While first responders were on scene in the store, a woman took the man’s dog and left the scene.
The man’s family said they do not know the woman and want the dog back, and police issued a plea for her to turn the animal in.
“Public safety staff does not know what the purpose was in removing this dog, but we ask that you please return their dog to the Longmont Police Department,” police wrote. “(The man’s family) not only lost a treasured family member, but are also missing his companion.”
