DANBURY, Conn. (AP) — The case of the knife-wielding man who was shot by a Connecticut police officer will continue next week.
State police say an altercation at an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center July 3 led officers on a two-hour manhunt that ended when Danbury Police Officer Alexander Relyea shot 31-year-old Aaron Bouffard.
The News-Times reports Bouffard is charged with first-degree breach of peace, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, among other offenses.
Authorities say Relyea fired several rounds at Bouffard, striking him in the thigh, pelvis area and finger. Bouffard was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital and arraigned on July 10.
Bouffard was unable to make his court appearance Wednesday due to a medical appointment.
A judge issued Bouffard a one-week continuance, scheduling his next court date for Aug. 14.(Copyright (c) 2019 The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.)
