LIVERMORE — A man fatally shot at the culmination of a feud between he and another man has been identified.
Officers found 31-year-old Juan Manuel Elias on ground between a Walmart and a Kohl’s after rushing to the 2700 block of Las Positas Road around 4:06 a.m. Wednesday. Police identified Elias on Thursday.
Elias and his killer, suspected by police to be 30-year-old John Inocencio, knew each other, and had fought for some time, police said. Both were transients known to stay in the same homeless encampment near a creek that runs by the area where officers found him, police spokesman Officer Art Rosas said.
John Inocencio, 30, remained in custody Thursday at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on suspicion of murder.
Police in Elk Grove arrested Inocencio on Wednesday afternoon. Detectives sent out a statewide call to be on the look out for two vehicles — a 2014 white Ford Explorer and a 2000 white-and-red Tioga motor home that Inocencio could be driving or riding in.
They found him around 1:45 p.m., Rosas said, and took him into custody without incident. He remained in custody Thursday at the Santa Rita Jail.
