Watch: OSM brings crowds, classical music to Montreal’s Olympic Stadium

The Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal brought classical music to the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday night.Kent Nagano led his orchestra and 400 choristers in a performance of Verdi’s Requiem in front of a sizeable outdoor crowd.The free event was the official launch of the OSM’s Classical Spree, which will see the orchestra perform more than 30 concerts through Aug. 11.

“It’s certainly an event to hear an orchestra and large choir like this,” attendee Marie-claude Denis said. “I am amazed with the silence (of the crowd). We’ve been noticing the quality of listening.”The concert wasn’t just a treat for locals.“I came from Ottawa to see the OSM,” Lea Desjardins said.In addition to the music, she said the concert was an opportunity to have fun with friends.
