A woman is dead and a man is in custody as a result of an incident that Windsor police are describing as a homicide — the city’s fourth homicide case so far this year.Patrol officers were called to a home in the 600 block of Moy Avenue, just south of Wyandotte Street East, on Aug. 9 around 10:45 a.m. The initial report was about a deceased person.Inside the residence, the officers found the body of an adult female.Police deemed the circumstances of the death suspicious and an investigation was launched.Detectives with the Major Crimes Branch arrived at the scene. A warrant was obtained to search the residence.Forensics officers gathered evidence and the woman’s remains were sent for a post-mortem examination.The investigative efforts led to the case being categorized as a homicide.An adult male suspect was identified.Police said the suspect was arrested on Monday without trouble.Investigators say the victim and the suspect were known to each other.The accused remains in custody awaiting processing. Police said his name will be released once a formal charge has been filed.The case is Windsor’s fourth homicide investigation of 2019 — and the third this year to involve an adult female victim.The Aug. 9 incident comes less than three weeks after a July 24 incident in which a 64-year-old woman was found dead in a home at 628 Mill St. in the west end.
