The wading pool in Olympic Plaza has reopened after it was temporarily shut down by health officials last week.Alberta Health Services issued a notice of closure last Wednesday after water samples showed a high presence of coliform, or fecal matter. The city-owned pool was required to eliminate the contamination, chemically balance the water and submit a sample to provincial labs for testing. The pool was reopened around noon on Monday, according to city officials.“We know that the Olympic Plaza Reflecting Pool is a special part of downtown Calgary, providing enjoyment to children and families in the summer. It is our responsibility to ensure that it’s safe,” AHS said in a statement last week.
